Today we have received some emails regarding the state of the Installous, Apptrackr and Hackulo.us. It appears that they have either received some threats and have given up or have finally finished setting sail on their pirate ship.
If you are not sure what Installous was it was a Cydia application hosted on the Cydia.hackulo.us repo that allowed you to download "cracked" applications and install them straight from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch.
Installous was the pirate version of the Apple App Store allowing you to browse through the most popular pirate downloads and then allows you to click on download to show a menu providing you with available mirrors such as sendspace, mediafire and even allowing to download a magnet torrent file.
Apptrackr was started Jan 4th, 2010 to replace Appulous and has been put down nearly 2 years later allowing users to download millions worth of free apps and games.
We are very sad to announce that Hackulous is shutting down. After many years, our community has become stagnant and our forums are a bit of a ghost town. It has become difficult to keep them online and well-moderated, despite the devotion of our staff. We’re incredibly thankful for the support we’ve had over the years and hope that new, greater communities blossom out of our absence.

In conclusion while putting down this application may seem like the greatest victory in the fight against App piracy you will only see new sites that will in all become another "installous". When one door closes a hundred more will open so be on the lookout for another application similar to installous.
