KaKaRoto (Youness Alaoui)
On January 4th, KaKaroTo created a 3.55 "CFW" PS3UPDAT.PUP that allowed for homebrew applications to be installed and launched from XMB. This was the first real progress of opening up the once known most secure console. UPDATE: He has managed to decrypt 3.56 Keys.

Geohot (George Hotz)
On January 8th, 2011 Geohot released a "Jailbroken" 3.55 PS3UPDAT.pup that was 5MB in size and allowed for homebrew applications to be installed on the XMB. This opened doors for saving games, not launching and playing emulators.

Wutangrza "Flukes1" (Unknown)
On January 17th, 2011 Wutangrza released a 3.55 "CFW" PSPUPDAT.pup that contained peek and poke LV2 patches that allowed for backup managers to launch legal backups. This custom firmware also allowed for homebrew applications and games to be installed to the Xmb under game.

Kmeaw (Unknown)
On January 19th, 2011 Kmeaw created a new 3.55 "CFW" PS3UPDAT.pup that was 170MB in size and contained LV2 Patches with Peek/Poke included. When you run the LV2.pkg and then click on your favorite backup manager you are allowed to save and launch Legal Backups. Also homebrew applications and games can be installed.

Wanikoko (Unknown)
On January 29th Wanikoko released his 3.55 "CFW" PS3UPDAT.pup that was improved from V1. V1 caused many people to brick their system and their was and is no current way to unbrick. This also contains peek and poke lv2 and will allow homebrew applications and games to be installed.
